അപ്രിൽ 2021, വിയറ്റ്നാമിൻറെ കോവിഡ് പ്രതികരണം ശക്തമായതിനാൽ മുഴുവൻ കേസുകളുടെ എണ്ണം കുറവായിരുന്നു. അതിർത്തി അടച്ചതിനു ശേഷം പുറത്തേയ്ക്കുള്ള യാത്രകൾ സാധ്യമല്ലാതെ ആയി തീർന്നു. അത് കൊണ്ട് അർജുനും ഞാനും മധ്യ വിയറ്റ്നാമിൽ ഒരു സാഹസികയാത്ര ചെയ്തു.
വിയറ്റ്നാമിൻറെ തലസ്ഥാനമായ ഹ്യൂ ആയിരുന്നു ഞങ്ങളുടെ ആദ്യത്തെ ലക്ഷ്യം. അവിടെ ഞങ്ങൾ പഴയ ചക്രവർത്തിയുടെ നഗരം കണ്ടു. അമേരിക്കയുമായുള്ളാ യുദ്ധത്തിനു മുമ്പ് ഇവിടെ 160 (നൂറ്റിയറുപത്) കെട്ടിടങ്ങൾ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു, എന്നാൽ ഇന്ന് അവശേഷിക്കുന്നത് പത്തെണ്ണം മാത്രമാൺ. പല കെട്ടിടങ്ങളും വീണ്ടെടുത്ത മട്ടിൽ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

ചം ജനത ഹിന്ദുക്കൾ ആയിരുന്നു. അതിനാൽ തന്നെ സോനിൽ നിരവധി അമ്പലങ്ങൾ ഉണ്ട്. ചം ജനത ശൈവർ ആയിരുന്നു. ഇവിടെ പഴയ അമ്പലങ്ങളും എഴുത്തുകളും ശിവ ലിംഗങ്ങളും കാണാൻ കഴിയും.
മധ്യ വിയറ്റ്നാമിൻറെ സംസ്കാരം കംബോഡിയയ്ക്ക് സമാനമാൺ. ഹൈന്ദവ സ്വാധീനം ഇവിടെയും കാണപ്പെടുന്നു. മൈ സോണിൽ മാത്രമല്ല മറ്റു പല ഇടങ്ങളിലും ഹിന്ദു പുരാവസ്തുക്കൾ കാണുവാൻ കഴിയും. ഡാ നാങിലെ മ്യൂസിയത്തിൽ ഒരു വലിയ ശില്പ ശേഖരം ഉണ്ട്.

ഹൊയി അൻ ചരിത്രമുറങ്ങുന്ന ഒരിടം ആൺ. പഴയകാലത്ത് ഹൊയി അൻ ഒരു പ്രധാന വാണിജ്യ തുറമുഖം ആയിരുന്നു. കൊറിയയുമായി കച്ചവട ബന്ധമുണ്ടായിരുന്നതിനാൽ ഇവിടുത്തെ തച്ചുകലയിലും അത് പ്രകടമാൺ. ഹൊയി അനിൻറെ കെട്ടിടങ്ങൾ കരുതലോടെ നിലനിർത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു. വൈകുന്നേരങ്ങളിൽ ഇവിടെ വിനോദസഞ്ചാരികൾ എത്താറുണ്ട്. ഹൊയി അനിൻറെ പരമ്പരാഗത വിളക്കുകൾ രാത്രി ഇവിടം മനോഹരമാക്കുന്നു.

ബന കുന്നുകൾ വളരെ മനോഹരമായിരുന്നു. പക്ഷെ ഇവിടം ശരിക്കുമൊരു ടൂറിസ്റ്റ് കേന്ദ്രമാൺ എന്ന് എനിക്കു തോന്നി. യൂറോപ്പിയൻ ശൈലിയിലുള്ള കെട്ടിടങ്ങളും, പുതിയ ബവോത്ത ആരാധനാലയങ്ങളും, നിരവധി റെസ്റ്റോറൻറൂകളും ഇവിടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. ടികറ്റ് നിരക്ക് അല്പം കൂടുതലാൺ. ഒരു വട്ടം വരാൻ പറ്റിയ സ്ഥലം.

ഡനാങിൽ തിരിച്ചെത്തിയപ്പോൾ നേരം ഇരുട്ടിയിരുന്നു. ഞങ്ങൾ പുഴയിലൂടെ ഒരു കപ്പലോട്ടത്തിനു പോയി. ചോറും സൂപ്പും ചെമ്മീനും പന്നിയിറച്ചിയും എല്ലാം അടങ്ങുന്ന നല്ല അത്താഴവും കഴിച്ചു.
ഡനാങിൻറെ തീ തുപ്പുന്ന വ്യാളീ പാലവും വിളക്കുകൾ തെളിഞ്ഞു നിൽക്കുന്ന നിരവധി കെട്ടിടങ്ങളും ഞങ്ങൾക്ക് ഒരുപാട് ഇഷ്ടപെട്ടു.

അടുത്ത ദിവസം ഡനാങിലെ കാഴ്ചകളിലേയ്ക്ക് പോയി. ഇവിടുത്തെ വെണ്ണക്കല്ല് മലകളിൽ കയറി. അവിടെ ബവോത്തായുടെ ശില്പങ്ങൾ ഉണ്ട്. കാറിൽ പോകുക ആയിരുന്ന ഞങ്ങൾ ലേഡി ബുദ്ധയേയും പല പകോടകളും കണ്ടു. ഡനാങ് ഒരു വലിയ നഗരം ആണെങ്കിലും ഒട്ടനവധി പ്രകൃതിദത്തവും ആത്മീയവുമായ സ്ഥലങ്ങൾ ഈ നഗരത്തിനടുത്തുണ്ട്.

മധ്യ വിയറ്റ്നാം യാത്രയ്ക്കു ശേഷം ഞങ്ങൾ ഒരു ചെറിയ തെക്കൻ യാത്ര നടത്തി. ഞങ്ങൾ മെക്കോങിൽ ഒരു നാൾ നീണ്ടുനിൽക്കുന്ന പുഴമുഖ സഞ്ചാരം നടത്തി. അവിടത്തെ സംസ്കാരത്തെ കുറിച്ചു പഠിക്കാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞു. സൈഗോണിൽ എത്തിയപ്പോൾ നല്ല ഭക്ഷണവും കഴിച്ചു.

ഈ ഒഴിവുകാലം തീരാറായപ്പോൾ കോവിഡിൻറെ ഡെൽറ്റ വകഭേദം വിയറ്റ്നാമിൽ എത്തി. അടുത്ത ദിവസം ഞങ്ങൾ ഹനോയിയിൽ എത്തിയപ്പോഴേയ്ക്കും സമ്പൂർണ അടച്ചിടൽ തുടങ്ങിയിരുന്നു. ഈ യാത്ര ചെയ്യാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞതിൽ നല്ല സന്തോഷം ആയി. വിയറ്റ്നാം തുറക്കുന്നത് ഒരു കൊല്ലം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടാവും. ഇപ്പോൾ സഞ്ചാരികളുടെ വരവിനായി കാത്തിരിക്കുകയാൺ വിയറ്റ്നാം
വിയറ്റ്നാം ഏറെ പ്രത്യേകതകൾ ഉള്ള ഒരു നാടാൺ. ഇവിടേയ്ക്ക് നിങ്ങൾ വരും എന്നു ഞങ്ങൾ കരുതുന്നു.

In April 2021, the overall number of cases was low due to Vietnam’s strong Covid response.
After the border was closed, outward travel became impossible.
So Arjun and I went on an adventure in central Vietnam.
Our first destination was Hue, the capital of Vietnam.
There we saw the old emperor’s city.
Before the war with America, there were 160 buildings here,
but today only ten remain.
Many of the buildings were restored.
Here we learn about the last king of Vietnam.
Apart from this, we visited tombs with some remarkable statue guardians etc.
These performers are not from India.
They belong to the Cham tribe.
The Cham people were Hindus.
Hence there are many temples in the zone.
The Cham people were Shiva devotees.
Here you can see old temples, inscriptions and Shiva lingams.
The culture of central Vietnam is similar to that of Cambodia.
Hindu influence is also seen here.
Hindu artefacts can be found not only in My So bunt also in many other places.
The museum in Da Nang has a large collection of sculptures
Hoi An is a place steeped in history.
Hoi An was an important commercial port in ancient times.
Because of the trade relationship with Korea,
it is also evident in the pottery here.
Hoi An’s buildings are meticulously maintained.
Tourists come here in the evenings.
Hoi An’s traditional lanterns make the place beautiful at night.
Later we visited Bana Hills – a theme park
Bana hills were very beautiful.
But I felt that this place is more of a tourist trap.
There were European-style buildings, new Buddha shrines, and many restaurants.
The ticket price is a bit high.
It’s a place you can visist once, and it’s enough.
It was dark when we got back to Da Nang.
We went on a river cruise.
We had a nice dinner of rice, soup, shrimp and pork.
We loved Danang’s fire-breathing dragon bridge and many illuminated buildings.
The next day we went sightseeing in Danang.
We climbed up the Marble Mountains.
There are sculptures of Buddha.
As we were going by car, we saw Lady Buddha and many pagodas.
Although Danang is a big city, there are many natural and spiritual places near the city
After traveling through central Vietnam,
we took a short trip south.
We did a day long river cruise on the Mekong.
I was able to learn about the culture there.
We had lots of good food when we arrived in Saigon.
As this holiday season drew to a close,
the delta variant of covid arrived in Vietnam.
By the time we arrived in Hanoi the next day,
a total shutdown had already begun (May 2021)
. It was a pleasure to be able to do this trip.
